Frozen Pipe While Owners Were On Vacation
The owners of this home turned the heat off while they were away over the holidays to save money. While they were away, a pipe froze and burst. As you can see from the image, water came pouring through the ceiling and into this room, filling it with water. The team here of SERVPRO of Portland was called to handle the cleanup and when we arrived, there was still water standing in the home. It is a fairly common thing for homeowner to turn off the heat when they are away to save money. However, it is a better practice to turn the heat down to around 55 degress, turn the water off, and open the faucets to relieve the pressure. This will help ensure that you don't end up with frozen and broken pipes.
